The Queqiao 2 relay satellite of the fourth phase of the lunar exploration project was successfully launched by a Long March-8 YISan carrier rocket from China's Wenchang Space Launch Center on the morning of March 20.
As a "key link" in the follow-up mission of the fourth phase of the lunar exploration project, the Queqiao 2 relay satellite will set up a new Earth-moon "Queqiao bridge" to provide relay communication between the earth and the moon for Chang 'e-4 and Chang 'e-6 missions.
With the support of ground measurement and control, Queqiao 2 will enter the capture orbit after mid-course correction and near-moon braking, and then enter the phase modulation orbit after orbit control, and finally enter the 24-hour mission orbit around the moon, becoming the world's second dedicated relay satellite outside the Earth orbit after the Queqiao relay satellite, and providing support for the Chang 'e-6 lunar sampling mission.
